6 Ways To Put Yourself In The Holiday Spirit
With the holiday season in full-swing and Christmas being only 17 days away there is no better time than now to get into the holiday spirit. Many people start feeling the holiday spirit once Thanksgiving ends when people start putting up Christmas Trees, decorating the outside of their homes in lights, and visiting the local mall to see Santa Claus.
If you feel as though your having a hard time invoking the holiday spirit no fear! Here are six different ways that you start feeling the holiday spirit and adding some Christmas cheer into life.
Watch some holiday movie classics. This time of year it is almost impossible to not turn on the TV and see a classic holiday movie. Networks like NBC and ABC play classics like It’s A Wonderful Life and Charlie Brown’s Christmas. Freeform celebrates the holidays with 25 Days of Christmas showing classics like Christmas Vacation, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, and Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas just to name a few. Now go grab a blanket, brew some hot chocolate, and check your local listings for details!
Go shopping. Although the thought of shopping amidst crowds of people doesn’t sound fun on the front, this is undoubtedly a great way to get into the holiday spirit! It is almost impossible to find a store that is not playing Christmas music, and many malls and stores tend to go all out with their Christmas decorations to lure shoppers in. If you have kids, hop online to check when Santa Claus will be at your local mall to find out what your kids want for Christmas.
Get tickets to a musical or play. Around the holidays almost every city seems to be doing their own rendition of A Christmas Carol or The Nutcracker. Some of the most popular holiday themed plays or musicals of 2017 include Elf The Broadway Musical, A Christmas Carol, and Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
Bake Christmas cookies. There is nothing like the smell of fresh baked Christmas cookies to get you into the holiday spirit. Grab a family member or two, the ingredients to make your favorite type of cookie batter, a lot of icing, and go to town! Gingerbread snowflakes anyone?
Put up a Christmas Tree. This one seems pretty self-explanatory, but you wouldn’t believe how many people wait until the last minute to put up a Christmas Tree. Although fake Christmas Trees have gained popularity over the past few years, many people still travel to their local tree farm to cut down a tree of their own.
Go look at lights in your neighborhood. At Traditions we believe that there is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than by looking at Christmas light displays. We all have that one neighbor who always goes all out every year with a light display timed to music to make their house the talk of the neighborhood (and even the town in some cases!). Hop in your car, turn on some Christmas music, and drive down your block. You won’t regret it!
