Adding Sound

Music in the backyard is as much of a summertime tradition as cooking on the grill or splashing in an inflatable pool. The mechanics of it have changed over the years, evolving from bulky boomboxes to the rechargeable Bluetooth speakers. If all else fails, there is also the timeless technique of opening all the doors and windows and cranking the indoor system as loud as it can go, hoping all the while that the neighbors don’t complain and your speakers don’t blow.  Unfortunately the sound quality, from whatever the source, is just never as good as it would be inside. This combined with the fact that there is always a lingering risk of damaging expensive sound equipment when it is brought into the great outdoors makes achieving that perfect sound a bit of a hassle.

Because we have been those people who worry for their technology, but also need a good song to set the mood, we were thrilled to hear about Sonarray’s new outdoor sound system. After a demo from a Sonarray representative and a week to test out the system for ourselves, we were more than sold. The sound quality of the system is incredible and designed specifically to be permanently installed outdoors.

The music was had a clear and distinct sound, even when the volume was on its lowest setting. The subwoofer gave off a soft, but powerful undertone when we set the music to background sound, but could really pump up the party when turned up high. The speakers seemed to form a bubble of sound around us. As soon as we took more than a few steps outside of the bubble, we could easily tell that the sound was dramatically fading.  When installed properly, the system does an excellent job of keeping the sound in a designated area, a must for those who live with close neighbors.

What really surprised us about the product was how well it integrated into other systems. The amp that comes with the kit connects to the WiFi of the house and can be integrated into just about any pre-existing wireless system. Chromecast, Apple Play, Sonance home system, etc. It was easy to set up and even easier to use.  If wifi hookups are not your cup of tea, then the system can be installed with an ajax cord or something more to your liking. The system was very user-friendly.

The standard kit comes with eight speakers, a subwoofer, and the amp and works best in a 2000 square foot space. The speakers are small, easy to hide, and can be placed in a way that creates a custom sound experience.  We here at traditions can not wait to get ours set up permanently. The sound is incredible, and we can’t recommend it enough for anyone looking to take their backyard to the next level.
